SNW Northern Frost
DOB: 2002
PC Joes Frost x Pretty Miss Fox
“Hooey”
Bred by former AQHA President Stan Weaver and his wife Nancy, excellent breeders with an eye for a horse with a future, “Hooey” is pure Dakota through and through. His top side has all the South Dakota Cowan superstars – Sun Frost (Docs Jack Frost) and Boon Dox John. On the bottom we pull in the North Dakota legend, Mr Blackburn, a true-blue cow horse producing superstar. SNW Northern Frost took those two performance bloodlines to the roping pen and pasture. While he is a “Big 4” rope horse, roping both ends as well as tie-down and breakaway, he really made his mark as a ROM Heeling Horse underneath JD Yates. Take that performance and throw in the deep, gorgeous dun color, big hip, solid bone and pretty little head and you’ve got a horse that’ll turn heads. Hooey has some horses out there making a name for him, including Northern Goldmine and Kit McCall Miller. Kit has also ridden for Deb and Bill Myers so knows quality when she sees and “feels” it. Jackie Miller and Aubrey Riggins are also making great headway on their Hooey babies in the Barrel Racing. Megan Cobb and Northern Bert (SNW Northern Frost – Frosty Vanita) placed at the Sand Cup Futurity in WA as well as winning money at Dunns Arena in AZ. Megan says he’s just a naturally gifted athlete who popped off an 18.1 on a standard pattern his first run out with very little time on the pattern. Despite a 5 month vacation last summer recuperating from an ill-fated fight with a fence, Northern Bert managed to win over $6500 between the barrels and team roping. Finally, Driftwoods Fox, a 2012 buckskin gelding (SNW Northern Frost x WC Driftwood Buck) topped the 2019 Jamison Fall Production Sale in Kansas at $25,000. Along with Hooey babies excelling in the Barrel Racing and Team Roping industry, his colts are also making great ranch horses.
His colts are eligible for: Gridiron, Homegrown Classic, MN Futurity, Lucky 7 Bonus, and AQHA Ranching Heritage Challenge.
